I came across a really interesting article from Kathleen Davis at Intelligent Utility (Energy Central) about smart water metering.
Davis spoke with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) about water metering, standards and leaks. Would you believe that the U.S. loses more than ONE TRILLION gallons of water to leaky pipes and water infrastructure? Doing some rough math... that's the equivalent of every American pouring out 3 gallons of water every year because of leaky pipes.
We need to start installing better water meters that can detect leaks - not just in the U.S., but across the globe. TI's Smart Grid solutions team is proud to be working with meter manufacturers worldwide to solve this problem.
