Equivalent comparator A+

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV7011, TLV7031

Hi Team,

I have initially posted this inquiry to the MSP low-power microcontroller forum but it seems better to consult your team since our customer is looking for a comparator.

The application report entitled "NFC and RFID Reader Ultra-Low-Power Card Presence Detection Using MSP430 and TRF79xxA", discusses the Comparator A+ in the MSP430. Our customer is using another microcontroller and would like to know if we have an equivalent "Comparator A+" (not MSP430 with Comparator A+) that they can connect to their MCU.

Thanks for reaching out.  I pulled up the document you referenced but it is a bit cryptic for me to determine the requirements of the comparator.  At one instance they show a MHz input signal which does not necessarily point to a low power comparator.  A low power comparator option would be our nanopower TLV7031 with response in the 3us range while our TLV7011 was response in the 300ns range.  If you can find or provide any additional requirements, we can better assist with recommending the best comparator option from our portfolio.  Maybe you can tell us which MSP430 they are specifically using and this should have some of the specs of their internal comparator.  My assumption is that it is fairly general purpose and one of these comparators should suffice.

  • Hi Chuck,

Thank you very much for your feedback. We have made follow up emails to our customer but didn't received any response. I will now resolved this thread.
