INA199: INA199A1DCKR is treated as MSL-1 even though it is MSL-2

Part Number: INA199

Hi,

I have a question about the MSL of the INA199A1DCKR. As far as the datasheet is concerned, the INA199A1DCKR is an MSL-2 product.
Below is a product seal shipped from TI that states INA199A1DCKR as MSL-1. Also, the product I received from TI was not packed in a drypack.

I would like to know why the INA199A1DCKR is treated as MSL-1 even though it is MSL-2.

Thanks,

Astro

  • Astro,

I checked in with the team on this and got some information on this.

We have a few factories that manufacture INA199, each with their own test capabilities. This material was tested at the MSL-1 level, and they mark the material as such. However, we populate our datasheet with the lowest potential testing level possibly received based on these various factory testing capabilities.

In summary, the HFTF qual for this material was run at MSL-1, and does not require a drypack as a result. There should be no concerns with this material for use.

  • Hi, Carolus

    Thank you for your reply.

Currently, INA199A1DCKR is treated as MSL-2 on the data sheet, and there is no mention of MSL-1.
Will you consider the above description on the datasheet in the future?

    Thanks,

    Astro

  • Astro,

I agree there should be some explanation as to the higher standard test, as this allows the parts to be sent without drypak in the facilities where MSL-1 testing is conducted, which may not be immediately obvious. I will relay this feedback to our test team.

  • Hi, Carolus

    Thank you for your reply.
We look forward to hearing feedback from the test team.

    Thanks,

    Astro
