LMV358: LMV358M issue

Part Number: LMV358

Hello Ron,

we have a third example of oscilating LMV358 amp which was alwas resolved by changing with different one.

The issued amps have always one in common and that is F2 in the date code: 09F2, 1AF2, 21F2.

After we switched to non F2 version, eg. 168D it works properly.

Could you help me explaining what F2 stands for?

This is not the LMV358 but the LMV358-N, which was acquired from National Semiconductor. The device with TI logo is newer; I guess that it might use the same die as the LMV358A.

Thanks. Does it mean that the amp with date code 1AF2 in the picture is LMV358-N? Because we bought it as LMV358MX/NOPB SOIC8. And with date code 168D is OK and valid LMV358MX/NOPB SOIC8?

For the LMV358, the orderable part number is LMV358IDR, and the marking is MV358I.
For the LMV358A, the OPN is LMV358AIDR, and the marking is MV358A.
For the LMV358-N, the OPN is LMV358MX/NOPB, and the marking is 358M.

Both devices are LMV358-N. The right one is newer. Consider ordering the LMV358A instead.

Could you send a picture of the sticker on the material these two devices were ordered from? Additionally could you include the schematic of the circuit?

Hello Jerry,

the sticker is attached, thanks. it is not a design issue, as we replace xxF2 part with non xxF2 part - see the pictures, it works ok. We did a XRAY pictures as well as it is visible that both part have different layout inside the package. Could you help me to understand the difference and wheather xx F2 part could be a fake or not? Hey Jan,

I looked up the part information and any recent PCNs, and did not see any die revisions, and both of these orders should be made from the same material. Where were these devices purchased?
