LMV321A: Pin-out for SOT23 DBV package

Part Number: LMV321A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMV321, LM321LV

Hello,

What is the correct pin-out for the LMV321AUIDBVR SOT-23 part?

Shown below is Figure 5.1, Figure 5.2 and Table 5.1 of the datasheet - the table seems to suggest 2 pin-outs for the DBV part  - one column has heading DBV and the other is DCK, DBV.

I've inadvertently used the first column but now believe I should have used the 2nd column (as my circuit works if I use the 2nd column pin-out).

Thanks.

  • There are two DBV pinouts. Your device with "U" in its name used the "U" pinout in the second column.

  • Hey Kieran,

Apologies for any confusion, but yes, the U in the suffix was a pinout created to be pin-to-pin with the legacy version of this device. The original LMV321 had the same pinout for SC-70 and SOT-23 packages.

However, this is not the industry standard SOT-23 package pinout. When the A version of the device was released, we made the industry standard version the base suffix, and the uncommon pinout the U suffix.

    Best,
    Jerry

  • Hi Jerry,

    Thanks for your answer.

I can't see anything in the datasheet to say what the U suffix means so this should be clarified, the figures and table are misleading.  I'd suggest you have a 3rd figure and pin-out column for the U part.

We've used National Semiconductor LM321MF, ST LMV321ILT and TI LM321LV in the past.  All these have the same pin-out as the LM321A "U" part which you say is the uncommon pinout.

So I take it I should use the LMV321AIDBVR part as it should have the pin-out as per the 1st column?  However this version does not seem to be available (no stock at TI, Digikey or Mouser).  The LMV321AUIDBVR is the most readily available version.

    Regards,

    Kieran

  • Hey Kieran,

I believe some of the spacing/line wrapping on the table can be harder to interpret. Because "(U)" is in parentheses on the next line, it may not be as apparent that it is supposed to be next to DBV to show the differentiation between the two DBV pinouts. I believe it would be more clear if it were formatted in the below image. Note: This image is edited from the original datasheet to show a proof of concept.

I'll put in a note to get this corrected so it is clearer!

    Best,
    Jerry
