Hello, I am looking for an IBIS Model for Part Number "PGA280AIPW" to analyze some peripheral traces for signal integrity, appreciate any help!

Hello Benjamin,
Unfortunately we do not provide IBIS models for our components.
Best regards,
Alex Curtis
Thank you for the response Alex Curtis. I have the IBIS model for another part on the same SPI bus (ADS1259QPWRQ1), which I downloaded from the ADS1259 product page. Can I assume the SPI driver/receiver on the PGA280 is similar enough to use the same model as the ADS1259?
Hi Benjamin,
You might be able to reuse the ADS1259 IBIS model for signal integrity analysis on the same SPI bus, but it’s risky to assume that the SPI driver/receiver characteristics of the PGA280 and ADS1259 are identical. Both devices support SPI communication, but the PGA280 can handle a faster clock rate (up to 16 MHz compared to 8 MHz for the ADS1259).
Other than the SPI interface and GPIO, PGA280 is considered an analog part which we do not make IBIS models for. If you require more information about the PGA280 SPI protocol or characteristics, please refer to the electrical characteristics section of the PGA280 datasheet as well as the app note "PGA280 Communication via SPI".
Best Regards,
Alex Curtis
Alex Curtis, I don't understand where you draw the line between analog parts and digital parts when the IC has components of both. Why do you provide IBIS model for an analog to digital converter like ADS1259, but not a DIGITALLY programmable amplifier like the PGA 280? Any IC that is capable of serial communication should be provided with an IBIS model. It is not helpful to reference this data when running simulations in tools that use IBIS models. How can we request an IBIS model be created for this component?

Hey Ben,
The support for these devices will soon be transitioning to a new team - covered by me.
Could you please help me understand what the IBIS model is used for?
What the key care abouts are?
What simulator is used for IBIS models?
I found the following resources online:
If there is enough of a business case, we can look into making an IBIS model for the PGAs most likely using the T2B resource listed above.
All the best,
Carolina
Hello, Caro Walter! We are using Siemens HyperLynx to analyze signal integrity of switching signals and any coupling effects caused by switching signals. The main thing we care about in IBIS models are the drivers and receivers of switching signals (like the SPI interface in the PGA280).
Thank you for looking into this!
Hey Benjamin,
Thanks for letting me know. I will discuss internally and see what we can get to you.
What would be a good timeline for this IBIS model considering your project?
Considering this is a new task for me... would a quarter be sufficient? Done by EOY?
All the best,
Carolina
Hi Carolina, have you made any progress with this request? As for timeline, as soon as possible would be best. Thanks!
Hey Benjamin,
No update on an IBIS model yet. It will likely not be ready until the following year as I continue to ramp up on these devices.
I will post an update on this thread when I have one.
All the best,
Carolina
