TLV3401: TLV3401 - Product marking changes - Now failing at extended Temperature

Part Number: TLV3401

We have been using this component to extended temperature for 5+ years with zero failures.

Latest purchases from 2 registered vendors have new component marking and are failing.

Can you tell me the differnece between markings and possible date code cutover for LTB if these are NOT conterfiet parts.

Failing Component Marking has orizontal lines above and below marking code

  • Hello Chet,

    There is a PCN for a design/die change for the TLV3401:

    Product Change Notification (PDF)

    Cut-over date was Sept 27, 2023. But the old die is still in the supply chain.

    You cannot rely on the datecode as these are assembled at different sites and the cutover time was not the same.

    You can tell from the reel/box label as the "20L" line will show "RFB" for the new die (see PCN).

    The devices with the two horizontal lines above and below are the new die. The "lines" are a BCD datecode.

    The Label 20L line is the determining factor.

    Horizontal = 2025 July, lot ending in 6079 (new die)

    Vertical = 76 = 2017 June (old die)

    Both are legitimate datecodes for TLV3401IDBVR.

    How is it failing? By "extended", are you exceeding the -40 to 125C range?
