Hello,
I'm working on a product on which i'd like to offer multiple transmitter options to my customer. For example, I would like to use an opa170 to provide a 3-wire 0-10V output, but would also like to offer 2-wire 4-20mA if the customer prefers, currently using the XTR117. The problem I have is isolating the XTR117 from the circuit when i'm not using it. It works great in loop power mode, but it will provide an extra offset voltage in my 0-10V signal due to the 25ohms between gnd and return. I tried leaving the Io pin floating and connecting the supply directly to ground, but the xtr117 still draws excessive current and I think it will fail. Any suggestions?
Hi,
Unfortunately there isn't really a robust solution to get rid of the offset you're seeing. In order to switch between a voltage and current output, you will need to use a 3-wire device such as the XTR111.
