THS4513: THS4513 for single ended output.

Part Number: THS4513

Hi Team,

One of our customer is currently using THS4513 and the differential output is feeding to transformer as in attached schematic. Now they want to convert the differential output to single ended without transformer and schematic modifications were made as attached, required bipolar 160Mbps data at output but getting lot of ringing. Is this happens only due to impedance mismatch. What precautions and suggestions we should provide to customer as they need same amplitude and gain.

Can you please help with your comments and suggestion.

Regards, Shinu Mathew.

  • Hi Shinu,

The output ringing for single-ended signal is probably because of the mismatched output impedance, and the CM noise that is riding on top of the single-ended FDA output. Also, the THS4513 has ~1.4GHz of BW at G = +2 which automatically translates into high frequency transient noise at the output.

For output impedance matching, I would make the R7 resistor same as the load resistor which the THS4513 drives for source and load resistor matching. Also, I would recommend to implement a 100MHz cut-off Bessel-Thompson filter at the output, which should help in reducing the high frequency output noise.

    Best Regards,
    Rohit

  • Thanks Rohit,

Will do necessary modifications and update the results.
