TLC393: TINA

Part Number: TLC393

TINA TI. How do I insert the second half of a dual comparator like the TLC393. The first time I insert the part it shows it as the first half  (pins 1, 2,3 ,4 and 8). How do I insert the second half (pins 5, 6, and 7). Inserting the TLC393 will add a completely new part, which means that the device current will double because I now have two comparators instead of just one dual comparator.. I am using Tina Version 9.3.150.4 SF-TI.

  • Hi Arthur,

TINA is not a layout tool. It does not care about actual package pin numbers as there are no physical packages. TINA does not have "channels" per part (aka a "Homogeneous" symbol).

Usually there is only one symbol for all channels, unless the Librarian created separate two individual symbols for the A & B channels.

If pin numbers are showing, then either the pins have the Pin Names enabled, or, someone has added text labels next to the pins.

So, in short, each symbol you place is a generic channel. So if you need a more realistic supply current, then you need to add a second symbol to replicate the dual supply current as the models only model one channel at a time. You can ground the inputs and the output of the unused comparator since it is an open collector output.
