How to critically damp an instrumentation amplifier?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA115

hi,

i am multiplexing into an instrumentation amplifier, one input is a constant reference signal and the other is being multiplexed.

i am trying to get the fastest step response and need to critically damp the instrumentation amplifier.

i cant seem to find any material on the net for damping instrumentation amplifiers though

can anyone help? thanks

  • Benjamin,

With the 8-pin IA configuration, there is not much that can be done to optimize the dynamic behavior. In general, anything extra, other than the gain-set resistor, connected to the gain set pins will make dynamic behavior worse, not better. The INA115 has access to the outputs of the input amplifiers. Here you might be able to perform some optimization.

If you provide some more information on the IA and gain you are considering, I may be able to provide more help.

    Regards, Bruce.
