Hi, I have a question about OPAMP overload recovery.

Hi, I have a question about OPMAP overload recovery in precision lab.

I can understand why there is slew rate limitation in strong overload condition.

But, i don't get why Vos becomes way larger than when it is in linear condition.

Could you explain in more detail why Vos is large in strong overload condition?

  • Hello,

Vos increases when the op amp is in slew rate limit because the inputs of the op amp are being pulled apart during this condition. During slew rate limit the input pins are pulled apart because the output voltage is not changing fast enough to keep the input pins equal to each other due to the slew rate limit of the amplifier. This appears as an increase in offset voltage.

    Thank you,

    Tim Claycomb

  • Hi Tim,

    Thank you very much.

    I fully understood it.
