since a long long time, I keep a cardboard box, beautifully designed and originally stamped by TI, which I bought at a surplus electronics store back in the late 70's (!), containing 250 pieces of equally beautiful semiconductors in 3-lead TO-18 metal can package. Leads and package base are gold plated, as was usual back in these golden times... the stamping on the box clearly says: "Type SJ1127, QTY 250, SO 45727, QC064 (Quality control ?), 23 02 11854". The devices themselves are genuine, equally clearly stamped, no misinterpretation possible. Now for the question: what device is this? Does TI as the proud manufacturer of these devices have a data sheet available? Extensive searches on the web did not reveal anything useful, nor do they at Rochester know about it. The only hint comes from a broken link saying something about a mesa type germanium device of unknown type. A general test with a semiconductor tester revealed a single p-n junction with a forward drop of around 900mv, which would not support the "germanium" hypothesis. Any idea?
