VFC110: VFC110

Part Number: VFC110

Hello

We would be requiring over 500 Nos of VFC110AP for a Project with long gestation.

I've two Q's:

1. Digi-Key Site shows Rochester Electronics VFC110AP-2, while TI's P/N is VFC110AP

Are both of them identical? Is Rochester a licencee of TI?

2. Is VFC110AP nearing its EOL?

This Q s important as the client would like to be assured of spare availability after say 8-10 Years?

Thanks and regards

  • Hello Varunesh,

I don't have the historical information about the VFC110AP-2, but dash numbers added to a Burr-Brown part numbers usually indicated a variance in electrical or physical characteristic(s) from the standard part. When I view the information on the Rochester site regarding the VFC110AP-2 it indicates the package is not lead free, and is not Europe or China RoHS. I suspect that the -2 may be an indicator that these VFC110 devices are older, pre-RoHS lead finish, which may be Pb/Sn. That is speculation on my part and is not something I am able to confirm. Rochester may be able to tell you more about their inventory of these devices.

Rochester is a reseller of older and obsolete integrated circuits. I do know that such material can be transferred from TI to them, but it is possible these VFC110AP-2 devices came from a distributor's old inventory. My thought is that I would first try and obtain a RoHS compliant VF110AP from an authorized TI distributor, or from TI directly, and remove any uncertainty about the material.

The VFC110 is a legacy product and is currently being manufactured. I am going to have our Marketing Engineer comment on the availability because I don't have information about product longevity plans.

  • Hello Varunesh,

The VFC110 is not scheduled for EOL. This device ships every year to a significant amount of customers.

Our guidelines state that TI standard products are not eligible for obsolescence if any of these three conditions exist:

    • The product has had any sales within the last five years (seven years for automotive or high-reliability products).
    • The product can be manufactured and has been in production for less than 10 years.
    • The product has any current customer demand.

For more information on TI longevity guidelines please visit this page: https://www.ti.com/support-quality/quality-policies-procedures/product-life-cycle.html
