AMC1301: how to connect ESD TVS to input pin?

Hi,

Customer need 8kV contact discharge, 15kV air-gap discharge. So they need to add TVS to AMC1301's input pin.

The question is where should connect the negative pin of TVS? the GND1 or the rack?

I agree with Kai - thank you!

Connecting to GND1 will ensure that the device input is protected with respect to it's GND potential. The rack could be a different potential with respect to the device ground which could lead to common-mode issues.
