Hello team,
I'd like to know IC max operating current of LM7321 when it operates in 3.3V to estimate IC's possible max power consumption.
From the data sheet, I was able to find I_s (supply current) with 2.7V as below. Does it make difference on supply current of 1.9mA if it operates in 3.3V? What's the operating current when 3.3V supply?
In addition, can (VSS * I_s) be used to estimate power consumption of IC itself?
Thank you!
The ±5 V value is 2 mA; just use that. Or you could use linear interpolation; see [FAQ] What method is best used for estimating specification values between those given in the datasheet?
The power consumption indeed is (V+ − V−) × IS.
Hello Minkyung,
If you are just worried about the quiescent current of the device, then Clemens' answer will give you your final value. If you are also considering the power needed for the load, then realize that full power consumption consists of two things: the quiescent power draw of the amplifier and the output power consumption.
The first is very easy to calculate: (V+ - V-) * IQ. The second is a bit more complicated and depends on the output signal.
I would highly recommend you take a look at these resources. They will explain things in much more detail than I can in a single e2e post. Make sure to click on the link at the bottom of Thomas Kuehl's blog to see part 2.
