HI team,
My customer is using the INA3221 now. We find the device trigger a warning alert, not sure whether it's because the schematic float the IN+3(schematic is below)? Thanks.
Hi Frank,
can you give us a schematic which shows what's going on at the inputs?
Kai
Hi Kai,
We want to check whether the float configuration will cause the warning alert. Thanks.
Hey Frank,
Thanks for reaching out on the forum. The quickest way to determine what caused the warning would be to read the mask enable register. If you report that registers value we can help you further debug your customer's situation. Section 8.3.2.3 of the datasheet says IN+ can be floated, so I dont think that is the source of the warning.
Hi Patrick,
Is it better to leave both IN+ and IN- pins floating if a particular channel is not being used, or leave only IN+ floating and connect IN- to the IN- of one of the active channels like Frank has in his schematic? Which approach is better or more appropriate?
Thanks,
Noman
Hello Noman,
As the device monitors all channels whether you intend to use them or not, I would tether any unused channel IN- to an active channel IN-. The IN+ of the unused channel can then be left floating.
