Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI, , THS4501, THS4541
I was trying to import PSpice model to use with a commercial simulator and after two hours of wasted time I gave up.
If I don't resolve this soon, I will use a competitor chip, because I don't want to abandon the usual flow/tools and use TINA-TI just to use this chip.
I get that providing a free tool (TINA-TI) is useful to many customers, but Is there any legitimate reason why TI does not provide plain SPICE, Spectre or unencrypted HSPICE models, which can be used in most (all?) high-end commercial simulators, such as HSPICE, Spectre, ADS, Mentor AFS etc?
I already saw on the forum that other people have had a similar problem and resolved it by using a competitor chip.
Please consider this: who is more likely to order more chips - someone using a free tool, or someone using a high-end commercial simulator which costs a LOT?
By providing only a PSpice model, incompatible with high-end simulators, TI effectively pushes away customers having an established design flow to competitors which provide plain SPICE models.
Ultimately, this translates to lost revenue - all because of a decision to provide only PSpice models.
