Can this part be operated from a single 5V supply, so it would see +/- 2.5V?
It's ok if it looses a little performance, but want to make sure it still basically operates.
If not, is there an alternative part that could be recommended?
Thanks,
Hi David,
the TL592 is a very antique chip and dates from a period long before single supply OPAmps with their rail-to-rail capabilities were developped. According to the datasheet the minimum specified supply voltage is +/-3V.
Kai
Hi Kai,
Thanks for the response. I saw the +/- 3V on the data sheet which is why I was wondering if it would still work at +/-2.5V. Maybe BW would be a little lower or something but would it still operate?
Are you aware of any newer parts with similar function, differential in, differential out, settable gain, at least 100MHz BW with gain between 2 and 10?
Thanks,
Dave
Hello Dave,
There is a possibility that the part might not even turn on or function at +/-2.5V. Would you be able to share more information about the application, input signal, and output loading characteristics?
Thank you,
Sima
Hi Sima,
Application is for a lab test system. I'm buffering/amplifying (gain ~10x) a differential signal (some 10's of mV) from a preamplifier and sending it over a cable (BNC or twisted pair) to some test equip. (high impedance).
Just want to make sure the part will power up and operate at +/-2.5V
Thanks,
Dave
Hello Dave,
Thank you for the additional information. I doubt the part will even power up below the minimum specified power supplies. Based on your application specifications, I have filtered down our fully differential amplifier portfolio. Any of these products should work. I would suggest choosing amplifiers with a bandwidth higher than 600MHz for gains above 5V/V. THS4541 would probably fit your application best, and is not overkill on bandwidth for what you need.
Thank you,
Sima
