TAS5806MD: LC filter inductor effect on power consumption

Part Number: TAS5806MD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5806MEVM

Hi,

I designed my circuit according to TAS5806MEVM User's Guide page 7. The LC filter is realized with 4.7uH (Mfr.Pn: TYA40204R7M-10) and 0.68uF. PWM switching frequency is 384kHz and PVDD is 24Volts. When powering up the Amp it draws an idle current (without load) of about 240mA and heats up very quickly to over 90°C case temperature but it is possible to play audio!

When I set the amp in HiZ-Mode the current draw drops to 37mA. I then changed the filter coil from 4,7uH to 10uH, this seems to fix the Problem. Idle current draw is down to 110mA and the Ic only heats up to 60°C (measured after 10minutes).

Can someone explain this to me? Shouldn't it also work with the smaller Inductors without problems?
