TL972: Is the max rail voltage 12V total or ±12V?

Part Number: TL972

Hello!

Is the maximum recommended rail voltage for the TL972 12V total, or ±12V?

The datasheet specifies "12V", but I want to be absolutely sure whether the "±" is implied or not.

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,

David McRell

  • Hey David,

    The TL972 is 12V total, ±6V.
I can tell because the abs max table has 15V listed max, therefore it couldn't be ±12V because that would be 24V.

    All the best,
    Carolina

  • Hello Carolina,

In my mind, the same question applies to the abs max spec.  Is the "15V" abs max a total or ±15V?

However, I believe I found the key detail.

On page 9, section 8.1, the datasheet says:

"The TL97x family of operational amplifiers operates at voltages as low as ±1.35 V"

    (emphasis mine)

The max and recommended spec of "2.7V" is exactly 2x 1.35V, therefore I conclude the max and recommended spec is absolute and not ±.

    Kind Regards,
