PCM2912A: Noise issue with AMPS149A (DEM-PCM2912AEVM) while recording with mono mic

Part Number: PCM2912A

Hi,

We are facing noise issue on PCM2912A EVK board (AMPS149A / DEM-PCM2912AEVM) while recording the audio with mono mic (Link:MAONO AU-400 Microphone - MAONO : Flipkart.com).

We have tried with the LPF filter design mentioned in the thread (PCM2912A: Noise in microphone - Audio forum - Audio - TI E2E support forums) but not succeeded in reducing the noise level. Could you check where is the issue exactly?

  • Hi Sunil,

To check the issue we need to have a schematic, register dump/configuration script, and a more detailed description/capture of the noise.

    Thank you,

    Jeff McPherson

  • Hi Jeff,

We are recording the audio with PCM2912A EVK Board (AMPS149A). We haven't made any change on EVK Board. We just plugged the mono microphone in the 3.5mm Audio jack for audio recording. I have attached the schematic and recorded audio file for your review.

  • Hi Sunil,

I understand you've made no changes to the hardware of the board, but we still need to know how you're configuring the digital part of the device. Can you share a register dump and/or a start up sequence?

    Thank you,

    Jeff McPherson

  • Hi Jeff,

We have not made any changes in digital configuration of PCM2912A, and we are using generic USB audio driver available in Linux.

Could you please guide us how we can access these digital configurations to dump/read register settings of PCM2912A in Linux?

    Thank you

  • Hi Sunil,

I tested with the DEM-2912A EVM and as you can hear it's ok and not noisy.

Maybe check the connection on the audio jack and try playing with the volume.

I pressed the mute button and you see the signal is muted in the middle of the track.

    Regards.
