TPA3110D2: Relationship between PLIMIT and Vp

Part Number: TPA3110D2

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering TPA3110D2 and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

I could understand when output 5W@8ohm, PLIMIT should be 2.25V.

This result follows formula (1).

On the other hand, I couldn't understand Table 3. PLIMIT Typical Operation.

In this table, PLIMIT VOLTAGE, OUTPUT POWER and OUTPUT VOLTAGE AMPLITUDE are not correspond to the formula (1)

For example, when there are different PLIMIT VOLTAGE and OUTPUT VOLTAGE AMPLITUDE(Vp-p) when the OUTPUT POWER is the same (10W and 5W)

How can I think about them.

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi

Indeed this table is a little hard to understand. The data should comes from bench test results, because the PLIMIT function will make the output voltage a little distorted, not an ideal sine wave, hard to calculate the output power.

The same Output Power results in the table like 5W and 10W, because the Gain settings is different, the original output voltage would also been different. So by set different PLIMIT, you may get the same output power.

  • Hi Shadow,

    Thank you for your reply.

Even if you use the calculated PLIMIT, the actual result will be changed by distortion with the input voltage and gain.

I recommend the customer to measure it under actual conditions after calculating the PLIMIT.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi
