TAS6422-Q1: Inquiry about protection operation related to FAULT pin

Part Number: TAS6422-Q1

Hi, TI support team

I am reviewing using the TAS6422-Q1.

This is a situation where PWM output and Audio output are present even though the FAULT pin has changed from high to low.

It is described as below in the datasheet, but does the protection work only when the FAULT pin becomes low and the I2C register is changed?

Is it correct that the PWM waveform comes out through the output pin during Protection operation?

Additionally, is there a way to turn the PWM ON/OFF?

Thanks.

Regards,

MJ

  • Hi MJ,

If the fault pin is low, the output will be placed into Hi-Z and the PWM and audio will not be present.

The protection causes the fault pin to become low.  At the same time the fault is written to the proper fault register.

The PWM will NOT be present during Protection.

The PWM can be turned off by writing to register 0x04 to place it in Hi-Z mode.
