TPA3118D2-Q1: Question about the schematic of MUTE pin

Part Number: TPA3118D2-Q1

Dear TI experts,

Last time I requested a review of the schematic of my customer.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/audio-group/audio/f/audio-forum/1271855/tpa3118d2-q1-please-review-the-schematic-and-have-some-questions

they tested 1st sample, and they found that there is a pop noise when the power is off.

and they fond a way to remove it.

they remove C61, and pop noise disappeared.

1. Is it okay to remove C61?

2. in EVM, there are no other components even resistor, but in the datasheet, there is 100Kohm pulldown resistor for MUTE pin.

Is it okay to remove R68 resistor like EVM? or is it nessary? what is the recommended value? 220ohm or 100Kohm?

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi Chase

In order to minimize the power turn off pop, we suggest to Shutdown amplifier first (SDZ 1--->0) then power down PVCC.

I saw SDZ is controlled by external logic. So please double confirm SDZ is low before power down.

    The C61 can be removed.

When power off, what are SDZ and MUTE pin status? Please make sure SDZ is low and MUTE is high before/once power off.

R68 is preferred to 100kohm, same as EVM board.

    Regards,

    Derek
