TLV320AIC3204EVM-K: MIC does not pick up sound

Part Number: TLV320AIC3204EVM-K

Dear Designer,

The jumper and MIC configuration voltages have been adjusted to the configuration, but when the headset is plugged in, it is the computer that is heard, not the MIC pick-up. What is it?

Thank you very much!

Best Regards,

Arabella Zhang

  • Hi,

Are you executing the script like the one shown below from the GUI for recording?

This script is just for recording, it does not include the playback to headset.

If you need it to playback to headset, you will need to add that in the script and externally loop the data out DOUT back to DIN.

    Regards.

  • Hi pdjuandi,

I asked the customer to organize the problem into a document. Could you please help me find out the specific reason?

Functional requirements: Collect audio from MIC, and output MIC audio signals from HPL and HPR lines, that is, MIC input and headphone output.

Problem: Currently, the MIC audio collection and headphone line output verification functions cannot be configured.

    Thank you very much!

    Best Regards,

    Arabella Zhang

  • Hi Arabella,

Please get more information about their testing. Have they tried my suggestion above, are they using the scripts from the GUI etc.?

If they are using the EVM, they can quickly run the following steps to verify the recording and playback.

Steps to record with the recording script above:

    1. Make sure EVM is connected to the PC.
    2. Open the GUI as administrator and make sure GUI shows EVM is connected.
    3. Double-click on Recording under typical configuration and select IN3 for on-board MIC if they want to check the on-board MIC path.
    4. Load the script.
    5. Play a tone on the MIC input and use tool like Audacity to record the tone. Check if they are able to see the recorded tone in Audacity.

Steps to hear the playback tone:

    1. Make sure EVM is connected to the PC.
    2. Open the GUI as administrator and make sure GUI shows EVM is connected.
    3. Double-click on Playback under typical configuration and select High Performance Stereo Playback script.
    4. Load the script.
    5. Play a tone from Audacity and listen/capture the analog output at HP or LINEOUT. Check the tone.

Once the above steps are confirmed working, then combine both scripts and connect DOUT to DIN so they can play sound on MIC input and listen through HP/LINEOUT.

    Regards.
