TAS5431-Q1: remind overcurrent shutdown

Part Number: TAS5431-Q1

I have designed in the  TAS5431QPWPRQ1 to drive a speaker which DRC is 4Ω. When I power on the circuit, the TAS5431-Q1 can not work . I can read the Fault Register
(0x01) is 0x08. Then I changed the load to 16Ω,but it stil remind 0x08. I'm sure the output didn't short. Could you help me to analyse this problem? Thank you.

  • Hi Lin

It's a little interesting that only OC reported, but load diag passed. I think the OC happened as soon as power up, not during output large power, it may not related with your load so much.

Shall we have a look at the schematic first?

  • Hi Shadow,

Here is the sch. I  try to move the 49.9K before the 22uf, but the issue still exist.

    Through reading the Fault Register: (0x01) is 0x08, (0x02) is 0x20, (0x03) is 0x78.

I did an experiment, I removed the C8038 and C8037, and then powered up the circuit, the issue still existed.

  • Hi Lin

It should be the LC filter causing the trouble. 3.3uH is too small for this device,  please have a try with 22uH inductor. Or simply remove C8017 and C8025 to have a try.

  • Hi Shadow,

After I removed C8018 and C8025, the issue is resolved. I think the reason is that I reduced the value of inductance, but I neglected the capacitance.

    Thank you!
