TLV320ADC6140: Schematic Review Request

Part Number: TLV320ADC6140

 Hello TI team,

I am wondering if you could please provide some comments on my schematic for a client. We are using the ADC to mux 6 PDM microphones and 1 analog microphone. I also have a question about mixed signal filtering. The system will be powered by a 1.5V battery boosted to 1.8V with a ripple of 7mV. Is that insignificant enough that I shouldn't need a pi filter on the supply to the ADC here?

Thanks for your consideration,

Peter

  • Hi Peter,

The schematic looks good my only comment is to add pull up resistors from the I2C bus (SCL/SDA) to IOVDD. Also, AREG should not be connected to a supply *unless internal regulator is shutdown*, please connect a 10uF and 0.1uF cap to GND here.

Bulk decoupling capacitors (1uf and 100nf) at the supply of AVDD are sufficient.

    Regards,

  • Hey Daveon,

Thanks so much for the reply and assistance. Haha oof thanks for the reminder on the I2C lines! Okay I am not sure I understand using AREG. In the data sheet on p115 it says that if the supply voltage is less than 2V then short AREG and AVDD to disable the internal reg. Am I not understanding that correctly? Or does that scenario not apply to my use-case?

Thanks so much for your help!

    Peter

  • Hi Peter,

You are correct, I have corrected my original statement. As long as the AREG internal regulator is shutdown, you can provide a supply here.
