TAA5242: Low power mode and sleep mode

Part Number: TAA5242

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

What is the difference between Sleep mode and low power mode? Are they same?

If it's same, the trigger to enter sleep/lowpower mode are no audio clock or that MD4 and MD5 are high?

If audio clock exists and MD4/5 are high, still in active mode?

Regards,

Shoo

  • Hi Shoo,

Yes, sleep mode and low power mode mean the same thing. In regards for the procedure to enter sleep mode, please refer to section 9.2.3 of the datasheet. Active mode configuration is tailored to your application and the process is shown in section 8.4.1 of the datasheet. The MD4 and MD5 pins are mainly used to configure single-ended or differential input mode. Thank you.

    Regards,

    Sam

  • Hi Sam,

I understood sleep mode and low power mode are same.

The design procedure of 9.2.3 is unclear *Pull Up to IOVDD or Pull down to VSS on MD1 to MD6 Pin as per the required configuration.* The setting MD4 is Low& MD5 is high is same as the one MD4 and MD5 are high?

    Regards,

    Shoo

  • Hi Shoo,

Can you please clarify what you mean by " The setting MD4 is Low & MD5 is high is same as the one MD4 and MD5 are high?". If MD4 is low and MD5 is high, the analog input configuration is Differential input; AC or DC-Coupled. If both MD4 and MD5 are high, then the analog input configuration is  Differential input; AC or DC-Coupled; Low Power Mode. Thanks.

    Sam

  • Hi Sam,

What is the difference between Differential input; AC or DC-Coupled and Differential input; AC or DC-Coupled; Low Power Mode?

the setting that MD4 and MD5 are high are mandatory to enter the low power mode? In case of no clock input after 100ms,  the device can enter low power mode with that MD4 is Low & MD5 is high?

    Regards,

    Shoo

  • Hi Shoo,

The difference is that in one case the device will be in low power mode. If MD4 and MD5 are high, the device will enter low power mode. Sleep mode is the same as low power mode.  To put the device into low power mode after it being active, you must stop the clocks: Wait at least 100 ms to allow the device to complete the shutdown sequence and then change the Mode configuration by changing MD0 to MD5 as per requirement. The device will only be in low power mode when MD4 and MD5 are high. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Sam
