TAS6424E-Q1: Overcurrent response time

Part Number: TAS6424E-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

1. May we know the ILIM & ISD response time and timing definition?

=>  Like how long will it take for IC to shutdown the PWM output once the IC internal High-Side MOSFET detect OCP.

2. What's the difference between OC cycle-by-cycle current limit and OC shutdown? Detection mechanism is different?

=> Since it will trigger the cycle-by-cycle current limit first(ex: Level 2 - 7.2A) then PWM will shutdown already, why it will further trigger the OC shutdown(ex: Level 2 - 9A)?

Thank you.

=>  Like how long will it take for IC to shutdown the PWM output once the IC internal High-Side MOSFET detect OCP.

The protect reaction time is around 100ns.

    2. What's the difference between OC cycle-by-cycle current limit and OC shutdown? Detection mechanism is different?

CBC won't shutdown device, only will give you a warning. CBC will try to change the FET behavior, to limit the output current. If the using condition is normal load, and too much output power triggering CBC, you'll find similar to clipping output, it is CBC limiting the max output.  But if real short load happens, even CBC try to work, but still not possible to stop current going up, will finally trigger OC and shutdown.
