LM4889: What is the maximum delay time from SHUTDOMW=L -> H to LM4889 amp is enable completely?

Part Number: LM4889
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4865

Tool/software:

Hello guys,

One of my customer is considering using LM4889MMX/NOPB for their next products.

At this moment, they have the following question.
Could you please give me your reply?

Q.
What is the maximum delay time from /SHUTDOWN=L -> H to LM4889 amp turning on completely?
They would like to input an audio signal after LM4889 amp turning on completely

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Best regards,
Kazuya.

  • Hello guys,

Could I add an additional input?

I found a description which they want to know at CLICK and POP CIRCUITRY section on page 13 of LM4865 datasheet.
I think Cb-Ton table on the page is very helpful for them.

Do you have any table like this?

Thank you very much and best regards,
    Kazuya.

  • Hi Kazuya,

For these legacy LM devices, any available information is already included in the data sheet. Any other values would have to be tested and unfortunately there's no EVM available.

Regarding Cb-Ton, it should be close for LM4889 as well, however LM4865 features internal gain setting resistors, which may help keeping known component tolerances.

  • Hi Ivan,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I understood that LM4889 EVM is not available.
Could I ask you the following additional questions?

    Q1.
Is it only way that the customer checks Ton using their own board?

    Q2.
If they get Ton data using their own board, how much variation of LM4889 ton during mass-production from the Ton they measured?

Thank you again and best regards,
    Kazuya.

  • Hi Kazuya,

Yes, there's no EVM or simulation model available.

I would suggest testing on a few different boards and devices to consider any tolerance due to external components.
