PCM2906C: The function of the SELl0 and SEL1 pins

Part Number: PCM2906C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2903C, , PCM2912A

Tool/software:

Hi TI support, may I enquire about the functionality of the 2 pins: SEL0 and SEL1? There is nothing I can find on the datasheet other than pulling the pins to high. What does it do to the Audio Codec?

  • Hi Ena,

SEL0 is a logic input that's used internally by the device. The SEL1 pin has an impact on the power sequence depending on which device in the family you are using. For the PCM2906C, SEL1 = Vbus which is what you see in the power sequence. But if you look at the PCM2903C, then SEL1 is used in the power sequence.

  • Hi Jeff,

Thanks for getting back to me regarding the two pins. I'm currently researching on audio codecs to transfer USB2.0 audio data from USB2.0 stereo input to the DAC analog output.

I would also like to ask for any recommendation of a smaller audio codec compatible with USB input if you know of one. Thank you!

    Best Regards,

    Ena

  • Hi Ena,

Most of our USB converters all use an SSOP package. The exception is the PCM2912A which uses a TQFP.

  • Hi Jeff,

Alright, thank you very much for the help! One final question, are there any currently active products that are similar to TAS1020B? Thanks!

    Best Regards,

    Ena

  • Hi Ena,

USB Audio is not very demanding so most microcontrollers should be able to handle it in place of the TAS1020B.

Our newer AC-MB cards which control most newer EVMs use an XMOS EF216-512-TQ128-C20 in place of the AC-MB. For a TI solution I recommend opening a new ticket with the processor team.

    Best regards,
