boosting LM48901

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5601, TAS5132, TAS5715

Hello Support Team,

for a new development I think about using LM48901. The speaker configuration would be 2.1(left, right and subwoover).

But I need around 10W rms for left / right - and 30W rms for subwoover on 4Ohm. Supply voltage is 12V

The solution should be pure digital. Lifetime of the project is 7years.

The setup should be simple and cheap as possible.

I was thinking about TAS5601 or TAS5132. But I'm not sure if this combiation will fit together.

Do you have other component proposals for me which fulfill this requirements?

Thank you advance

and Kind Regards

F. Constant

  • Friedrich,

Both of those device should work just fine when combined with the LM48901.  The other option would be to use an I2S input amp, such as the TAS5715, and use the LM48901's I2S output ports.  But the PWM input amp is a much simpler solution.

You will need to increase your supply voltage to atleast 16V to hit your 30W into 4ohm target.  The theoretical max output at 12V into 4ohms is 18W.
