LM1973 Example Circuit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM1971

I am having trouble using this chip. I have attempted to use the example circuit provided from the LM1971 but there is no Vref for the LM1973 and thus I am unable to bias the input signal. Thus, when I run my output signal into an op-amp, the negative part of the signal is essentially removed.

Any ideas?

  • Hi, Steve,

Welcome to e2e, and thanks for your interest in our products.

Unfortunately, all the info we have on this 19 year old device is in the data sheet.

I assume that you are using it in single-supply mode? Do you have the audio input(s) ac-coupled? Can you measure the DC voltage on the IC side of the ac-coupling caps? It should be 1/2 the power supply voltage. If not, then, that would explain your clipping.
