TPA2017D2 : : strange sound generated periodically when single frequency(for example, 1 KHz) is inputed to TPA2017

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA2017D2

I use TPA2017D2. I inputed single frequency like 1 KHz to TPA2017D2 to test frequency response. In this case i can hear another short sount in additon of 1 KHz . This sound is generated every 150msec repeatly. This sound is similary with POP noise. When single frequency is input, always happened. But at real music, no problem.

Please check what is problems.

  • Hi Jung,

When you try to drive the amp into clipping, the AGC will reduce the gain. The gain steps are big enough that you can hear the amp as it changes the gain. That is the noise that you are hearing. In music the you would not notice this constant noise as the signal does not stay constant as long or repeat as the sin wave does. You can either turn off the AGC (0, X) or prevent the signal from going near clipping.
