Per bridge power supply for TAS5706B

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5706B

Hey TI,

I would like to design a high quality stereo amplifier using the TAS5706B in 2.0 bridge mode, to drive 8Ω loads.

For power supply I'm currently looking at the TPS7A4700 / TPS7A4701 because of its ultra low output noise, aiming for something around 20V.

As it only has 1A max. output, I would like to use one for DVDD/AVDD and then one for each pair of half-bridges (one TPS7A4700 for PVCC_A and PVCC_B and one for PVCC_C and PVCC_D).

Is this at all possible? If so, would it be better to use one for each half-bridge (so using four instead of two). Does it have an effect on audio quality? Would I require extra circuits for this approach (maybe trimmers, additional caps, etc)?

If this is not a good route to go, could you recommend another single regulator to drive all PVCCs with?

  • Hi, Ontje,

Welcome to e2e, and thanks for your interest in our products!

I would not recommend splitting the supplies between left and right channels as this might cause problems if the supplies don't come up simultaneously, etc.

Unfortunately, we don't have any power recommendations for this device. I suggest that you might ask in one of our power management e2e's for help with your power supply design.

  • Hi Don,

thank you for your quick answer and the tip for asking in the power management e2e.

    Best regards,
