Is it possible to use the PCM2706 circuit  to read MP3 or WAV files from a stand alone USB Flash drive and output them as left and right analogue audio?

    Any members want to share how they have accomplished what Geoff is trying to do?

    We were hoping that an application engineer at TI itself would be able to answer this fundamental question about a TI product. Is this possible?

    The PCM2706 is a USB audio codec without on-chip processing. It requires a USB host (running a USB class-audio compatible SW stack) as a master (for configuration) and as the audio source/sink.

    So, as you can see, TI does not have a good solution for this in a simple stand-alone IC.

    I was hoping that someone in the community would chime in and point you in the direction of an IC that does what you want. I have seen many customers in China using ICs to do essentially exactly what you want, but I don't know the manufacturer or part number of that chip.
