PCM1795 mono mode application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1795

Hi Everybody,

is there a schematic application for the PCM1795 used in mono mode?

Thanks!

  • Hi, Francesco,

All the info we have is in the data sheet.

Maybe someone in the community has used this part in mono mode and can share their results.

  • Hi Don,

Thanks for your quick response. So I can follow the indication given in Fig; 54 of the data sheet?

I am using two PCM1795 to have two balanced output for left and right channel.

    Thanks,

    Francesco

  • Hi, I understand how to connect two dacs for have two balanced output, but how can I connect this devices with a controller? I have an xCore.

  • Hi,

The two PCM1795 would need to be configured via the Mode Control bus by your controller. To enable MONO mode, Register 20 bit 3 must be set high. Then Register 20 bit 2 would need to be set high on the DAC operating the right channel and low for the DAC operating the left channel. The two PCM1795 devices can share control data lines with the exception of MS (chip select) which will need to be unique for each device. The PCM sound data can be shared between the two devices as well.

Let me know if you have any more questions,
    Paul
