hi guys, i not sure i m in wrong place to post or not but just wanna ask

i m using TM4c123gh6pm and connect to tlv320aic3204 codec. but i cant get acknowledge by codec. i saw the data sheet for aic3204 it response to address 0011000, which mean 7 bit either response to 0x18 (right) or 0x30 (left) but i dunno why my codec cannot acknowledge, both i use evaluation board. but software for the codec can have acknowledge below are the osc data

0x18 address bit osc data

0x30 address osc data

software using 0x30 data bit osc data

what is the problem?

Does the TLV320AIC3204 EVM work if you connect it to USB?

The TLV320AIC3204 will only respond to a byte of 0011000x, where x is the r/w bit. In TIVA, it seems that they assume the I2C address is right justified so you need to configure it as 0x18.

You can see that in the top image below the AIC3204 acknowledges when you program TIVA as 0x18. The plot shows you are sending 0011000 as the i2c address, which is correct.. So from codec perspective it looks good.

The bottom image below shows that you are sending 0110000 as the I2C address, which is incorrect.

i have tried 0x18 bit address, but unfortunately, it does not work as same as what software written.

if meaning like above address bit is correct, register address and register data is not acknowledge?

is there any idea how to solve?

Hello Kelvin,

The image on the top shows that it does ACK. Perhaps you can connect an I2C bus analyzer to verify the integrity?

There's Bus Pirate, which you can find in Sparkfun's website, as an example. It is < $30 USD.
