TAS5630 Powering Up sequence

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5630, TAS5630B

Hi! I have 4 TAS5630 synchronized together. They works in BTL Mode.

PVDD supply: 1000 VA toroidal transformer, 45VDC.

GVDD and VDD: a smaller transformer, 12VDC,

I have a soft start circuit for toroidal transformer. So the PVDD and VDD supply can't start at the same time. PVDD delays 3 sec.

Is it a problem? What happend if the device gets the VDD/GVDD (12V) suply without PVDD. Can I start PVDD any time?

VDD/GVDD running....Is SD pin active until the device gets PVDD?

What happens inversly? PVDD first, VDD second ? And SD pin?

Thanks.

  • Hi Baazs,

TAS5630B does not require power up sequence. Apply input only after READY pin is set.

The outputs of the H-bridges remain in a high impedance state until the gate-drive supply voltage (GVDD_X) and VDD voltage are above the under voltage protection (UVP) voltage threshold (see the Electrical Characteristics table of this data sheet). Although not specifically required, it is recommended to hold RESET in a low state while powering up the device. This allows an internal circuit to charge the external bootstrap capacitors by enabling a weak pull-down of the half-bridge output.
