No "Connect" button in PPC in TAS5751M Home page

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5751MEVM

My setup was working well ~2 weeks ago after installing PPC3 into my Win7 laptop and connecting my PPC Motherboard and TAS5751MEVM.

Now when I connect the system to my laptop and run PPC3, it does not connect and there is no "Connect" button to click.

The "Hardware Check" also fails:

Looking at the Windows sound manager, I don't see the USB audio devices I saw 2 weeks ago and in the Device Manager,

there is only one "USB composite device".  Actually it seems as if the PPC Motherboard is not being recognized as a USB

device when it is plugged in even though the blue ":USB Sync" LED lights when I do.  24V is also connected and the

green 5V and 3.3V LEDs light and the orange "ET" LED lights as beflore.

I have tried all 4 USB ports on my computer and rebooted numerous times all with the same result.

Any idea on what could possibly be the problem?

  • OK, its 2:00 AM and I decided to try one last possibility - change the USB cable.
And lo and behold, the "Connect" button now appears, is active, and the "Connected"
green "LED" appears when it is clicked.
And audio passes as well even though the Hardware test thinks the sample rate is wrong.

    So two important lessons:
    1) The "USB Sync" LED is NOT an indication that USB communication is actually working.
    2) The absence of a "Connect" button IS an indication that the USB connection has failed.

Better documentation and accurate labeling of indicators would have saved a lot of grief!
