Hi -

I recently received my PP-SALB-EVM board and have been working to get it running. Whenever I perform the initial hardware checks, all pass except the hardware ID, which is always reported as incorrect (see screen shot below). It would be nice if the program gave me more information, like what the hardware ID should be and what mine actually is, but there isn't any obvious way to troubleshoot it further. I've tried the usual basic countermeasures like power cycling the board and computer, unplugging and replugging the USB connection, etc. The board seems to be functional otherwise.

What can I do to resolve this?

Hi Josh,

Could you see the Firmware Editor under Installed EVM Apps when you launch PPC3? You can reset the hardware ID in it.

Thanks for the quick response Andy - unfortunately, I don't see that app. How do I get it? Here's what I see when I open PPC:

As far as I can tell, the available apps displayed are determined by my TI profile settings.

If I can get the app, how do I reset the hardware ID? Is there a button for that, or do I need to know the correct hardware ID (I don't) and enter it into a field somewhere?

Hi Josh,

My colleague has given you the access to the Firmware Editor App. Could you check in your PPC3? Note that you have to sign in to see all the available EVM apps.

Hi Josh,

Follow the steps below to update the hardware ID.

a) After you install the Firmware Editor App in your PPC3, go into that app.

b) Click the Connect button on the bottom to make the Firmware Editor online.

c) Select TAS5766M as the target device and click the Read button to see whether your TAS5766MDCAEVM has a valid hardware ID.

Click the Write button to update its Hardware ID. If everything goes well, you should see a success message show on the bottom.

Thanks for the response and access to the app, Andy. I have it installed, but your instructions pertain to the TAS5766MDCAEVM. I happen to have that board also, but I'm not having a problem with the firmware ID on it.

To reiterate, my firmware ID problem is with the PP-SALB-EVM. I don't see the option to select or write the ID for this board in the app:

Hi Josh,

Sorry, I thought you were using the PPCMB and TAS5766MDCAEVM. We usually call the PP-SALB_EVM Learning Board.

If you connect your PP-SALB_EVM to PC, would you see the LearningBoard in the Firmware Editor?

Thanks Andy. In my previous post, I posted a screen shot of the options I have available when the PP-SALB_EVM is connected and the firmware editor tool is open.

Those are the only options I see.
