TAS5342LA Allowable power dissipation

Guru 16770 points

Hi

Do you have information of allowable power dissipation on the datasheet test condition?

Actually, the power dissipation would be affected by output circuit (like inducors).

However, we want to confirm the variability of the power dissipation (especially we want to define maximum) at the datasheet test condition.  (It would be used as just reference)

Or, can we estimate maximum power dissipation of the IC itself?

BestRegards

  • Hello Na,

Power dissipation can be estimated by measuring the current flowing into PVDD and the PVDD voltage to get PVDD power. To do this, we use a small sense resistor to measure the current, typically 0.05ohm with a multi-meter.

Then you can measure the power delivered to the load.

Pdiss = Amplifier power - Load power

To get a better estimate of just the IC power dissipation, you can subtract the power loss due to the DRC of the inductor.

See this app note for more details on DRC loss: www.ti.com/.../slaa701.pdf

    Best Regards,
