DRV134: Max Voltage on +/-VO Pin

Part Number: DRV134

Hello,

I would just like to confirm my understanding of a datasheet spec. I am using the DRV134 in an application that is expected to experience lightning strikes and want to make sure the DRV134 can handle the brief high voltage and current on the VO pins. I've attached a screenshot of my circuit for review.

In the datasheet, there is no specific max rating on the VO pins in the "Absolute Maximum Ratings" section so I'm assuming the VO pins can handle only the V-, V+ voltage maximums, which would be +/-18V. Is my understanding correct? Also, what is the maximum current that the Vo pins can handle?

Thanks,

Hayden

  • Hi Hayden,

You're right in your assumption of Vo max voltage. It should not trip over the supply voltages.
Regarding the current, you could take a look at the short circuit current spec in the data sheet which is +/-85mA.
