TAS5622A: TAS5622A or

Part Number: TAS5622A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5624A, , TAS5558

We are looking at TAS5622a or TAS5624A in PBTL configuration but we don't have the THD+N graph for 8Ohm...can you please share it ?

  • Andre,

Operation in PBTL with 8 ohm load will be very similar to the BTL performance. The only difference would be that you are using more inductors for the same power level as BTL and therefore you might see some small differences due to inductor.

Could you explain the need for 8 ohms in PBTL mode? Usually PBTL is used for lower ohm loads where we need more current. Since PBTL doesn't give you any more output power than BTL for the 8 ohm case, it's curious why you would not use BTL and have twice the channels available.

  • hi Adam and thank you for the reply.

    see comments form engineers here:

we want to use PBTL (dual mono) since the power supply becomes more manageable (22v instead of 32V). But from what we understand , BTL or PBTL will give you the same power in 8Ohm ? Usually the power in PBTL is increasing by almost 2x

Regards and thanks for your efforts.

  • Andre,

Power in PBTL is increased over BTL because twice the current is available. This is relevant for lower ohm loads. With a higher ohm load such as that which the customer is using, they don't need the current provided by PBTL.

What power level is the customer trying to reach at 8 ohms?

  • hello Adam,

  • Adam,

on another note... Concerning the TAS5558
can you please assist with this:

we require the Linux drivers. Are they available anywhere?

    we also downlaoded purepath...
But confusion is: they have 3 purepath softwares (console 3, console 2 & console 1) and TAS5558 is not list in any of these 3 consoles.

Can you please get information on which purepath console software to be used for TAS5558 chip.

    thank you again
    Andre
  • Andre,

PPC 1.16 is the correct one. I can give you access to it if you don't have it. Please send me an email at adamsidelsky(at)ti(dot)com.
