TAS6422Q1EVM: How to request the EVM Board or get a look at the 4/8 Channel reference Design

Part Number: TAS6422Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS6424, TAS6424L-Q1

Dear TI Community,

for my final bachelor project in the university (in Germany) I’m looking for suitable class D amplifiers. After some research the TAS6424Q1 seemed to be a perfect fit. When I was trying to request the evaluationboard the response unfortunately was: "Unfortunately, we are not able to verify your information"
The Support also was relatively clueless, but promised to call me back.
Since I need to be productive, is there a way, to get a look at the 4/8Channel-reference-designs shown in the video about the TAS6424q1, so I could start planning my board. Just in case the EVM-Board would take a while to arrive or I won't be approved at all.
Regards
D. Shahidfar

  • Hi Darius,

Thank you for your interest in TI Class-D audio amplifier.  Due to the popularity of TAS6424 the EVMs are on back order.  I believe TAS6422 EVMs are available.  It is similar to TAS6424 device in the software commands so it can be transferred easily to TAS6424 board.

The TAS6424 EVM User's Guide is also available online so please take a look.  Please let me know if you have any questions once you peruse through the document.

    Regards,

    Tuan

  • Actually, better yet, please try the TAS6424L-Q1 EVM. It shares the same exact instructions set.

  • Thanks a lot. I found an European distributor which has the 6422EVM in stock and if I understood you right, I can transfer everything I need to know to the TAS6424 so that problem is fixed. I also found the userguide which also is very helpful but unfortunately does not contain the newly developed 8 Channel reference design the engineer is talking about in this video www.youtube.com/watch in 01:29. If there was a way for me to look at this design, that would be great.

Is there a way to see this designs?

  • Hi Darius,
The 4 channel board should be released as a TI designs in the near future. There is no schedule to release the 8 channel design at this time.
  • Thanks for the Reply. I will check the TI-Desing regularly.
On another note, now that I have my EVM-Board, I need access to the purepath Software.
Unfortunately the reply is again: "Unfortunately, we are not able to verify your information. Please contact your local TI Sales office for more information."
But without the software the EVM-Board would not be very useful. Since it is for my Bachelor thesis it is kind of time sensitiv, so if someone could point me to the right direction as to how to get my hands on the software I would be very grateful. Of course I can provide any information, but up to now I have no idea, which information they need or could not verify.
  • After "crying" to the TI-Software support I have been approved. Again, thanks to all the staff for being helpful really quickly.
  • sorry it took so long! thanks, Jeff
