Hi there,
I searched a little bit for an answer to this question, but didn't see anything, so I apologize if it's been answered elsewhere. In which case, please point me to that answer and I'll read from there.
I've been working on a design using the TAS5733L. This application is for a 2x8W speaker using 6ohm drivers. My voltage rail will be 10V.
I've set up the purepath board and attached the TAS5733L board to it and have successfully gotten the tools to cooperate and produce audio. My problem is coming when I try to amplify the system to 8W per channel I'm not getting 8W. The system seems to be going into some kind of a protection mode (just a guess) and limiting the output for a brief moment before starting up again. This on/off cycle happens quickly (~5times/second) so I cannot play audio at this level and cannot do a frequency sweep.
I have disabled all the limiters, so I do not believe it is that. I have noticed one instance where I can get 8W out of the system. If I start my sweep (20Hz-20kHz) and then when I get to about 2kHz, if I then increase the master volume I can get to 8W. When the system is outputting 8W into 6ohms, the THD is low, 2.5%, which leads me to believe it is not a limitation of the amplifier or power supply, but some of the settings I have in my project.
Can anyone help me look at this and figure out why I cannot get a wideband 8W signal without any kind of interruptions?
Thanks,
