TPA3144D2: Asking for the TPA3144 speaker amp output power

Part Number: TPA3144D2

Hi Team,
Can TPA3144 drive the 16ohm speaker around 5Watt at THD 1% under PVDD 12V?

If not, what is the THD at 5Watt/16ohm speaker?

BR,
SHH.

  • Hi Scott,
You can't output 5W with PVCC=12V and Load=16Ohm. The linear output range is upto around 3.6W. If the input signal keeps increasing, there is still no clipping on the output because of the internal AGL. Please refer to the section 9.3.4 in the TPA3144D2 datasheet for more explanation. Only when the max AGL limitation 12dB is exceeded, the output starts clipping. In this case, the input signal is already very large becasuse of 12dB attenuation. The THD is less than 10% with 5W output power in this case, but this number actually makes no sense.
    Best regards,
    Shawn Zheng
