Hello TI
We are implementing a total of 6 channels with sampling frequency (fs) of 96Khz. TI has suggested us to use PCM3168A in PCM mode by using 2 PCM3168A. This device has 8 DAC and 6 ADC channels. I have checked the Table 11, and figure 52 for our required modes but figure 52 is only distributed with respect to 8 channels as shown in the snapshot given below.
I am confused that how I will distribute the channels on both PCM3168A chips because Figure 52 (red marking) is distributing between channels 1 to 8, that I believe implies for DAC, but when it comes to ADC then how they will be distributed?
Please let me know which configuration given below is correct? Also if Option 2 is correct then how these channels are mapped because Figure 52 is considering 8 channels that is only in case of DAC but not ADC.
Option 1=> Ch1/Ch4, Ch2/Ch5, Ch3/Ch6 (Ch1, 2, 3 will be from PCM3168A Chip1 and Ch4, 5, 6 will be from PCM3168A Chip2)
OR
Option 2=> Ch1/Ch5, Ch2/Ch6, Ch3/? (Ch1, 2, 3 will be from PCM3168A Chip1 and Ch5, 6 will be from PCM3168A Chip2)
Kind regards,
Muhammad Awais
Hi, Muhammad,
I need to make a correction, on the diagram I shared previously, I made a mistake and used two PCM3168s where only one is required for six ADCs, the correct diagram should be as follows. I was confusing the PCM168A with a different part which supports multiple device TDM operation. The PCM3168A supports TDM but only a single device per bus.
Regarding your question, the way the output channels will be accommodated is as follows:
Sorry for the confusion.
