TLV320ADC3100: TLV320ADC3100

Part Number: TLV320ADC3100

 Hi,

We are using TLV320ADC3100 in our design, can anybody tell me what will be the digital value for the following:

 1)     When 2.35V is applied to VIN (positive) and 0.35V is applied to VIN (negative)

2)     When 0.35V is applied to VIN (positive) and 2.35V is applied to VIN (negative)

Regards,

ptm

  • Hi, PTM,

Could you please share more details about the input configuration of the ADC?. From your comments, it seems input is set in differential mode. Please note that the maximum supported input level for any input pin of the ADC3100 is 0.7Vrms, which is below the amplitude of the signal you are applying. We cannot guarantee the correct behavior of the device if the device electrical characteristics and maximum recommended levels are not met.

  • Hi,

We are configuring ADC in differential mode.

If maximum input for each pin is 0.7Vrms (1Volt) with common mode voltage of 1.9089 (1.35Vrms), then differential input is 2Vpp correct?

  • Hi, Ptm,

Thanks for the feedback. The understanding of the input signal voltages is correct, but please note that 1.35V common mode voltage is DC, not RMS, this is a typo in the datasheet.

The Highest voltage is around 2.35Vdc, while the low voltage is around 0.35Vdc. The circuit approach is fine, please note that  the decoupling cap on the input signal trace will decouple the DC values from the output of your circuit and the input pin of the ADC, so only the AC levels will reach the input pin.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for the feedback.

There is no information on package mechanical dimensions for the part TLV320ADC3100IRGET  in the datasheet, where i am going to get this?

    Regards,

    ptm

  • Hi Diego,

I work for the same group ..Thank you for the response.

So again back to the first question

when an ADC input is configured as differential input and the for below scenario..

When 2.35VDC is applied to VIN (positive) and 0.35VDC is applied to VIN (negative) which means differential voltage is 2.35-.35 =+2VDC will the output digital word be max ?

When 0.35VDC is applied to VIN (positive) and 2.35VDC is applied to VIN (negative) which means differential voltage =0.35-2.35=-2VDC will the output digital word be min?

and at 1.35VDC on both pins (diff voltage =0) the digital word will be mid way ?

    Regards

    Eze

  • Hi, Ptm and Eze,

You can normally find the packaging information of this device in the package tab of the product folder of the device in TI.com, however, for some reason the packaging information for this device is incomplete. I am attaching the detailed mechanical information.

Regarding the last question, the assumptions are correct. Please note that for this device, the digital PCM output has a signed 2's complement data format.
